When you dispute it with the Credit Reporting Agency they request validation from the Company in question. If they do not respond in the time(30 days) they automatically remove it. Now, if at a later time the company does finally respond it can be put back on there.
In order to get it removed permanently you need to dispute it with the Collection Agency directly requesting debt validation. They have 30 days to respond to you, and after that 30 days you can then write the CRA and have it removed. In this case they can not place it back on your report until they have validated the debt with you. The link below talks about debt validation, the only thing to be sure of is that you send your dispute by certified mail with a return receipt to be sure they got it.
Now if they do validate the debt with you, you will have to work out getting that taken care of with the collection agency.
continually until it is resolved.
I don’t know but quite an interesting question and I will be watching it closely.
this is another form of the way junk debt collectors work. Sprint sold the debt to one collection agency, then if they can’t reach you, or you contest the debt,, they simply pass it along to another collection agency.
I have one that was time barred and the collection agency wrote me to try and collect, I requested in writing a verification of the debt, they could not do it so they sold it to another agency, I have written them also, but no answer it was sold again to another. Some collection agencies will even go as far as to make a small payment to re-start the clock.
I sent a certified letter to all three CCR’s of formal complaint regarding this time barred debt.
Here is a link to find out more about these agencies.http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/inde…
Hope this is of help.
After a negative mark has been removed, the collection agency can not put it back on. It was removed because Experian investigated it and there was no evidence that the collection was valid. Some collection agencies will try to put it on your credit report again, they may even say that it is a different situation, but it is illegal. Dispute it again and it will be removed.
you have to contact the company that listed it with the reporting agents. in this case Sprint themselves. If its not a valid debt they will have it taken off the report. But if you do owe them money they will tell you and you can have them send you all the details of the bill.
It can never be put back on the same credit report if they never responded back from your first dispute within the allotted time.
don’t forget you have 3 credit reports
equifax
experian
i forget the third
you have to dispute with all 3 seperately!
disputing it off of one credit report doesn’t affect the other 2, they are not connected or related in anyway
this is to protect people from a monopoly and mistakes
